Sometime at the end of that decade, the company called on a local casket maker and introduced them to a scrim-reinforced paper product as a replacement for the more expensive woven materials that were used in assembly at the time. The paper was tested and approved, providing tremendous value to the customer. From there, part by part, working with the customer, Cahill value-engineered and revolutionized the casket manufacturing industry by its use of less expensive, high performance nonwoven textiles. Cahill Nonwovens Company LLC was formed in 2005. The Company now supplies roughly 45 different parts for use on the assembly line. Its proximity to several casket manufacturers in the region has enabled Cahill to deliver parts on a “just-in-time” basis, providing both a supply and cost solution to its customers.

Cahill Nonwovens Company LLC continues to broaden its experience working in a variety of industries, including filtration, bedding and furniture, and automotive. Manufacturing processes are increasingly automated, making the need for specification-driven performance in nonwoven materials critical. Cahill works closely with textile manufacturers to ensure the material we supply passes spec tests and converts large volume materials for quick use.

The company has been operated by Hugh Cahill and his son, Jay for more than 20 years. With Jay’s cancer diagnosis in 2019, his sisters became involved, learning the ins and outs of operating the company. Jay passed away in the fall of 2021 and the company officially transitioned to women-ownership. The Board was created and the business is now owned, operated and controlled by the Cahill women.
